Who this policy covers
Mapping Our Thoughts LLC operates this website and offers tutoring through EduMentor. In this policy, “we” means Mapping Our Thoughts LLC. EduMentor is our service, not a separate company.
This policy explains information handled through this website and our EduMentor booking service. The EduMentor privacy notice provides additional details about the booking tools. Mapping Dynamics LLC operates separately; its website has its own privacy information.
What information is used
When you browse this website
The subject search, teaching examples, and sample lesson plans run in your browser. This website does not provide a form for submitting coursework or personal information. Selecting a subject and learning goal can pass those selections to EduMentor in the booking link.
Hosting and sign-in services may process technical information such as your IP address, browser details, requested pages, and access or security logs. This can occur even when you do not book a lesson.
When you book through EduMentor
Booking records include your signed-in account identifier, email, the name you use in lessons, subject, learning goal, selected times, time zone, agreed rate, and booking status. When you select Accept these terms, we record your signed-in account, email, acceptance time, selected lesson details, the policy version, the full lesson-policy text shown, and a checksum of that text. This acceptance record is kept even if you do not finish booking. A confirmed booking links to the acceptance it used. Historical bookings may have less detailed records.
A course note is optional. Your instructor may add teaching notes, a meeting link, and links to shared work. The booking site does not collect payment-card details, upload your coursework, or copy the contents of GitHub, Miro, or Overleaf projects.
When you contact us or take a lesson
We receive the information you choose to share through the contact or collaboration service you use, including relevant messages, work, and feedback. Share only material needed for your question. Wyzant messages (opens in a new tab) are also handled under Wyzant's own policies.
Why information is used
- Arrange lessons, confirm access, and keep track of times and changes.
- Prepare instruction, provide feedback, and maintain relevant shared work.
- Keep a record of agreed lesson arrangements and policy acknowledgments.
- Handle privacy requests, service questions, billing matters, and disputes.
- Protect accounts, prevent misuse, and meet applicable legal obligations.
We do not sell lesson or booking information or use it for targeted advertising.
Who can access it
The authorized instructor can manage student and booking records. In EduMentor, a student sees the records and shared links connected to their own signed-in account. Instructor notes are separate from the student dashboard.
The public service is configured to use Amazon Cognito for EduMentor sign-in, Amazon SES for account and lesson emails, and Amazon S3 for encrypted recovery copies. Cloudflare hosts the websites, and its Workers and D1 services handle EduMentor booking operations and records. A private AWS queue processes delivery, bounce, and complaint events. These providers process the information needed to operate those services. We do not promise that all provider processing occurs in the United States.
The public EduMentor booking service is being prepared. Its provider and email details describe the planned public service. For current lessons, contact your instructor through Wyzant.
Zoom, Wyzant, GitHub, Miro, and Overleaf handle the information you share within their services under their own terms. A project link in EduMentor does not grant access at its destination; permissions must also be set in the collaboration tool.
Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with a legal obligation, address a security incident, or establish or defend legal rights. We limit the information shared to what is appropriate for the purpose.
Account and lesson emails
When public EduMentor booking opens, we will use your verified email to manage sign-in, invitations, account verification and recovery, and to send lesson confirmations and cancellation notices. The instructor also receives booking and cancellation notifications. These are service messages, not a marketing subscription.
Lesson emails include times, booking references, and applicable policies. Confirmations include student Zoom join links. Course notes, instructor notes, and shared project links are excluded. Do not forward meeting links outside your lesson or include sensitive information in replies.
When public EduMentor booking opens, confirmation and cancellation emails will be sent to you and your instructor through Amazon SES. Confirmations will include Zoom links when they are ready. Automatic reminders are not enabled. Until then, arrange lessons and confirm meeting details with your instructor through Wyzant.
Public-service recovery backups have a 30-day retention setting. Queued delivery events expire within 14 days. Messages in your inbox, instructor correspondence, and external services have separate lifecycles. These settings do not automatically delete live booking or policy records.
Keep shared work private
Keep projects private and share access exclusively with the people in your lesson. Use named invitations rather than public boards, repositories, or open edit links.
A course name or topic is enough for a booking note. Do not include passwords, API keys, payment details, government or student ID numbers, medical information, confidential client records, or another person's personal information. Remove identifying details from research and workplace examples.
The booking service checks for some common sensitive-data patterns, but these checks cannot catch every mistake. Removing a link or blocking an account in EduMentor does not revoke access in another service or erase copies someone has already made.
EduMentor does not record lessons itself. Arrange any recording with the instructor in advance, including everyone's consent, its purpose, access, and retention. Do not record or distribute a lesson without the required permissions.
Cookies and external links
We have not added advertising trackers or visitor analytics to this website or EduMentor. The teaching website's own scripts do not store your subject searches or example selections in cookies or browser storage.
Hosting and authentication providers may use cookies or similar technologies needed for access, security, and service operation. Blocking those technologies may prevent sign-in or booking. Linked services have their own cookie and privacy practices.
How long information stays
We retain information for the purpose it serves, including instruction, scheduling, billing administration, legal obligations, and resolving disputes. The type of information and any outstanding obligation affect how long it is needed.
EduMentor's default cleanup setting makes course notes, instructor notes, meeting links, and booking-specific project links eligible for removal 90 days after the booking's last lesson. The instructor can change that setting and must run the cleanup; removal is not automatic.
Core booking records, policy acceptance records, and student-profile workspace links are not removed by that cleanup. Policy acceptance records are protected against routine editing and retained for agreement history and dispute review. Those records require separate review or removal. Backups and external services have separate retention practices. A deletion request is reviewed; it does not promise immediate deletion of every record or copy.
Your choices and requests
In My bookings, you can review your saved sessions, remove your course note, download your booking records, and request access, correction, or deletion. A privacy request does not cancel a lesson; use the cancellation controls for that.
You can also contact your instructor through your established service contact channel or message on Wyzant (opens in a new tab). Identify the request as a privacy question and provide only enough information to locate the relevant account. Do not send identity documents or sensitive records in an initial message.
We may need to confirm your identity or authority before disclosing or changing records. Available rights, exceptions, and response deadlines depend on applicable law. If we cannot fulfill a request, we will explain the reason and any review or appeal process that applies. Instructor-only labels do not determine what must be considered in a legally applicable access request.
If you expose a password or access token, revoke or change it at its source and contact the instructor. Removing it from a note does not make it safe again.
Parents and younger learners
The website is intended for a general audience, with bookings managed by the learner or an authorized adult. For a minor's lesson, a parent or guardian should contact the instructor first and manage the approved booking account.
Do not create an account for a child under 13 or submit their identifying details through the booking site. Contact the instructor before arranging online services for a child under 13 so that any required notices, consent, and privacy arrangements can be addressed. A parent-managed account alone does not replace those requirements.
If you believe a child's personal information has been shared without the appropriate arrangements, contact us so we can review and address it.
Questions and policy updates
Questions about this policy should be directed to Mapping Our Thoughts LLC through EduMentor's privacy-request controls, your established instructor contact channel, or Wyzant messaging (opens in a new tab).
We update this page when our practices change and revise the effective date above. Where a change requires additional notice or consent, we will provide it. This policy does not authorize a new use of information merely because the wording changes.
